Here in Ajijic, Lake Chapala we pretty much all have gardeners which is a lovely luxury. However, in some cases our gardeners do not always do exactly what we might wish them to do especially in the pruning, dead heading and removal of weeds (malas herbas) areas.

Also if we want to replace or buy new plants it means a trip to the vivero (plant store) and filling up our cards with said purchases.

I have been looking for someone who was truly a landscape gardener who would come to my house every few months to clean up everything and replace plants and prune trees and get everything ship shape for fall.

I am hardly a Betty Boop type but I did want to share this recipe with you as I thought it was delicious.

Yesterday, my husband, BBQ’d some chicken breasts with a savory South Western dry rub and we also had fresh corn on the cob. Creamed spinach and spicy potato wedges completed the meal but it was the left-over chicken and corn that sparked my imagination.

Officers of the Arizona-based Palacio Development Group were in the Chapala area this week to break ground in the construction of a full service “Las Vegas-style” hotel-casino complex projected for opening in one year.

The complex will be named Lake Chapala Hotel and Casino Resort and is located on eight hectares of land just to the east and slightly above Chula Vista Norte. It will be set in the heart of a fifty hectare spread called Tierra Salada, also now undergoing development as a residential subdivision.

It will be the first of its kind in Mexico and is costing approximately $40,000.00 dollars is designed to appeal to the high-en clientele from Guadalajara.

The world is a scary place financially at the moment which is affecting Europe, Asia and, of course the United States.

Surprisingly enough as we watched the Dow Jones Index plummet 512 points yesterday we still find the economies in both Canada and Mexico are growing and even flourishing in many parts.

Real Estate is booming in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada and we are lucky enough to be busy here in Ajijic, Lake Chapala even though it not the “busy season”.

Now I can’t speak for all Canadian Banks but I can speak for mine.

I thought this was supposed to be a global economy an international market, if you will.

Today I wanted to extract some money from my Canadian checking account and tried to do it from two different credit cards from my bank and from my “Client Card”. I was told by my ATM that they could not connect with my financial institution and/or my PIN was incorrect.

When I returned home, frustrated from trying to access my money there was an urgent call from my bank to call them immediately. I did so forthwith and was told there had been some suspicious activity on my account. After a series of security question to prove I was, indeed, who I said I was I told them the “suspicious activity” had been me trying to get the ATM to spit out some money on some card.

Today I went for a consultation with Dr. Aguila mostly out of curiosity as many of my friends here have availed themselves of his services and been delighted with the results. These procedures have varied from mini face lifts to full face lifts and one full body lift.

Dr. Agula has a wonderful reputation and is very young and clearly up on all the latest technology and he is board certified. He is also referred to as “wunderkind”.
